Collaborative Law

Restructuring Your Family Through Collaborative Law

In a divorce, the best results can often come from both sides working together to arrive at their own solution. Collaborative law may be the best way to complete your divorce with dignity and respect by providing an open forum for you and your spouse to discuss your situation.

Collaborative law is a new way of resolving disputes respectfully, without going to court while working with trained professionals to reach the best outcome possible for your family.

At my Summit County, Colorado, law firm, I am dedicated to the processes of collaborative law and collaborative divorce. I have witnessed the benefits that come from negotiating rather than litigating.

If you are interested in pursuing a divorce that maintains your dignity and avoids the expense and stress of a trial, contact me at 970-453-2326 for more information or to schedule an initial consultation.

What is collaborative law?

Collaborative law is a method of dispute resolution to reach an outcome in a family law matter without the need for litigation. During collaboration, it is important to maintain an open mind concerning possibilities, arguments and outcomes.

Collaborative family law methods are most often used in cases of divorce.

In collaborative divorce, as your attorney, I represent your interests in a cooperative forum. By signing a participation agreement, you and the other parties involved define how we will move forward in the process of dissolving your marriage and resolving your concerns. If at anytime, discussions break down, I will no longer be able to represent you. Both parties will need to seek new representation to pursue litigation.

Why should I choose collaborative law?

If you take a more traditional route to dissolving your marriage, you are putting your life decisions in the hands of judge who does not know you or your family. How you order your life going forward should be your decision. Custody schedules with your children should be your choice, as you know their needs better than anyone. Collaborative law provides you the opportunity to make your own decisions about the future.

In representing you, I am open to all forms of problem solving. I will address your goals, needs and concerns in a constructive fashion. You can count on me to be a dedicated advocate for your while working in a cooperative environment.
